APPEAL

If a certain film raises difficult issues during its examination and its examiners are unable to agree with the applicant on the category given, the other examiners also review the film. After group discussion, the Examiners’ Committee advises the applicant of its decision. In case the applicant cannot agree with that group decision, then the applicant may appeal to the president of EIRIN in writing. The president summons the Appeal Committee consisting of the councilors who hear the statements both of the applicant and of the examiners, call in specialist witnesses if necessary, and make the executive category decision, which becomes final.
